We stopped first in Frenchman's Cove at St. Joan of Arc Church. Fr. John welcomed everyone with a blessing, Nancy Grandy gave a history (surprising to many of us) of the church, and then we were treated to a wonderful breakfast at the community center.
In Fortune Mary Bungay & Patricia Matthews from the parish met us at the church and gave a very interesting talk on the history of the parish and we prayed for the people of the parish and for continued cooperation between the churches.
Marie Stacey of Point May greeted us at the Church, again giving a history of the church and answering many questions.
At St. Joseph's Church, Allan's Island, Bernie Strickland greeted us with, again, a history of the church. We prayed the Angelus and then went to the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes. Afterwards, the pilgrims were treated to an amazing three course meal prepared by Fr. Cecil Critch and his helpers.
In Lord's Cove, Mary Hodge gave an eloquent talk on St. Elizabeth of Hungary! All were interested in the fund-raising efforts that had put the beautiful chapel in place as well as the striking new red roof (that is the first thing you see when you enter Lord's Cove from Lawn). We prayed the 4th decade of the Rosary before continuing on the journey.
Arriving in Lawn Kate Edwards & Yvonne Roul greeted us here. The pilgrims enjoyed the beautiful church and the talk given. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy was pray before heading on to St. Lawrence.
Fr. Critch met us at the church in St. Lawrence and gave a spirited talk on the Murals of the life of Christ and the other things in the church and he talked about the cooperation between the town of St. Lawrence and the Church. The 5th decade of the Rosary was prayed. Because the rain had started by then, the bus took us to the Stations of the Cross but we stayed aboard the bus.
Fr. John met us at the church in Burin (St. Patricks)where the pilgrims had a chance to see the new altar that would be dedicated at the weekend Mass as well as the new statues. We then went downstairs and had supper together.
